Detail of Austin Senior Care Services
Companionship
Whether you need a steady senior companion or just someone to check in on you or your loved one from time to time, Mom’s Best Friend Austin senior care can assist your loved one. Caregivers help with reading, gardening, playing games, hobbies, exercising, attending appointments, and can perform any combination of tasks listed below.
Transportation and Errands
You need a professional, safe and easy way to help seniors with shopping, errands and doctor’s appointments. Our clients are often active in church, they attend movies, they go out to eat, or play cards with their friends. We provide assistance and help keep the activity level appropriate. Caregivers may drive the client’s auto upon request. If this is the case, MBF requires that all clients agree to keep adequate insurance and a car that is in good working condition.
Assistance with Daily Activities of Living (including Mobility, Bathing and Restroom Assistance)
Our senior caregivers are there to assist with any of the most basic needs of daily living. This usually varies from client to client, so we will conduct an initial assessment with your family and the Senior involved and put together an individualized service plan. Along the way, we will consult with the client and family on how to best deal with any additional limitations as they develop. But rest assured, our caregivers are there to serve your every daily need.
Light Housekeeping and Pet Care
Our training program focuses on building caregivers who take the initiative in the home and transform the living spaces of our clients on an active, consistent basis. Additionally, many seniors rely heavily on their pets' presence for companionship and emotional support. And, yet, as people get older, it becomes increasingly difficult to take care of pets. MBF Caregivers are pet lovers too and can accommodate care and feeding of all pets, if requested.
Meal Preparation and Clean-up
As we get older, our meals become more and more important. This time in life provides a special opportunity to savor good food. It often means more than it did earlier in life because of diminishing physical abilities. But, it doesn’t really matter how old you are: nobody wants bland or mediocre food. As part of our senior care training program, our caregivers are provided with basic training on appetizing senior meal preparation for our clients. All dietary issues will be managed in accordance with any restrictions or special needs, but we do not provide a dietician except through referral.
Medication Reminders
Many seniors are on important medications and they need to be reminded to take them on a daily basis. Having an MBF caregiver in the home on a regular basis is the best way to ensure your loved one is staying on track with their medications.
Administrative Assistance
Our caregivers are trained to provide personal administrative assistance as well. This may include sorting mail, calendar management, scheduling vendors or appointments, and helping with records management. They can also assist with technology such as the computer or the telephone.
